St.
Martin Resort Vacations (French)
More than 350 years have passed since France and the Netherlands
agreed to co-exist on this 37-square-mile island. The southern
half (Sint Maarten) belongs to the Dutch, and is more touristy
than the Gallic side. Crossing the border between the two is effortless,
and both boast fine beaches.
Snorkeling, scuba
diving, sailing and windsurfing - the island offers every watersport
imaginable. Try horeseback riding or just stroll one of more than
35 wonderful beaches. Tennis, boating and deep-sea fishing are
also available, and an 18-hole golf course can be found at Mullet
Bay.

| Orient
Beach/ Baie Orientale |
Orient
Bay or Orient Beach , in French "Baie Orientale", sweeps
around a blue cove, facing east, as the name suggests. The 2 mile
long, white powdered sand beach is protected from the Atlantic waves
by a reef, and the bottom has a very gradual slope. The area has been
recognized as a marine reserve, so snorkeling in the marine park is
just incredible. Orient Bay is the most developed, the most popular
and the busiest beach on the island, probably the most famous beach
in the entire Caribbean. The beach is reputed as much for its natural
beauty and setting as it is for being the island´s foremost
swimsuit optional or nude beach. |
 |
| Grand
Case Beach |
Grand
Case Beach, in French called "Baie de Grand Case", is a
sweeping curve of a pretty, one mile long, white sandy beach with
quite calm waters. The narrow beach is ideal for swimming and has
some nice snorkeling spots as well, such as from the Pavillion Beach
Hotel towards the South end. The bay has also a wonderful view of
neighboring Anguilla and Créole Rock. The Bay of Grand Case
is also the perfect place for a sunset stroll. The sunset views from
the Eastern end are magnificent. And while you are enjoying your walk,
you can get a firsthand impression of all the delightful restaurants
to choose from for a dinner with panoramic views of the bay. |
 |
| Happy
Bay |
Happy
Bay is still a rather unknown, almost undiscovered beach of St. Martin.
This may have to do with the fact that the beach is not easily accessible.
You have first to take a walk of 10 minutes up the hill and down a
footpath through the underbrush. you will be taken by the beauty of
this tiny, intimate bay, with gorgeous views, a beautiful white, sandy
beach, and palmtrees to provide shade. This deserted beach is like
a dream and the right spot for romantic beach lovers.

| Plum
Bay Beach |
Secluded
Plum Bay, or Baie aux Prunes in French, is just beside Long Bay and
well known to surfers. The beach is very little visited, although
beautiful and without a doubt one of the most peaceful and romantic
beaches on the island. There is a lot of sand, a few rocks, also snorkeling
is good, and when you wade into the water, watch out, as corals are
just off the beach. If you want to get away from it all, this is one
of the most beautifully intimate, and calm beaches around the island.
At the very western tip of the island, it is also a great romantic
sunset spot. Plum Bay is as peaceful as it gets, but bring your own
supplies as there are no amenities. It is pretty common to go topless,
or some see this beach as a good alternative for the better known
nude beaches.

| Rouge
Beach/ Baie Rouge |
Baie
Rouge (also spelled Bay Rouge) or Rouge Bay is one of the most fabulous,
intimate and quiet beaches. A perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon
on this secluded beach of French St. Martin. Baie Rouge lies to the
Western corner of French St Martin, close to the capital Marigot.
They also rent lounge chairs and snorkeling gear. When you swim or
snorkel out to the East following the shore line you will find a cave
through which you can snorkel, and just next to it a very private,
small and intimate strip of beach. Clothing optional beach. |
 |
| Friar's
Beach |
Friar´s
Bay, North of the French capital Marigot, is a pretty, small, family
oriented beach. The bay is well protected from the swells, and attracts
also a few boats. For its calm waters, Friar´s Bay is an ideal,
pieceful beach for families. It has a fair amount of sand, beautiful
seashells to collect, and a good view of the neigbhoring English island
Anguilla. Facing the west coast, Friar´s Bay has also lovely
sunset views.

 |
| Pinel
Island |
A
small islet off Orient Beach, a ferry brings you from French Cul de
Sac to the private seclusion of Pinel Island in minutes. Beautiful
white sandy beaches and excellent snorkelling. Jet ski rentals are
also available. Pack a picnic lunch for one of the easiest and most
relaxing daytrips on St. Maarten. |
 |
| Tintamarre |
A
deserted four square mile island off the north side of St. Martin,
this is a beautiful destination of many daysail trips. One side of
the island is splashed by calm waters and excellent snorkelling can
be experienced off the shores. Remnants of an old farmhouse and a
dilapidated airstrip can be seen as you walk across the island, also
called Flat Island, to see the more savage waters found on the other
side. |
 |
| Anse
Marcel |
Anse
Marcel is a pleasant family beach, nestled in a cozy little harbor,
the Marina Port de Lonvilliers. It is a long white sandy beach with
shade and calm waters. The shallow water is ideal for families with
small children. Anse Marcel lies to the very North of the island;
and when you drive the road up to and over the mountain, take your
camera with you. The drive gives you breathtaking views and magnificent
panoramic corners, you won´t want to have missed to take it
on picture. However, be prepared for a 5 minutes walk from the parking
to this fabulous beach that is facing the northeast coast of Anguilla.
