Maui Resort Vacations

Welcome to Maui!

The mythic aura of this island begins high atop Mauna Haleakala, a towering, dormant volcano whose crater is big enough to hold Manhattan. Its slopes descend down to 33 miles of pristine beaches, then further into the waters off its shores, where endangered humpback whales find a safe home.

Maui could be called the activity capital of the world, with more than one hundred optional activities to be experienced by land, sea or air. Relax on the beautiful sandy beaches or explore historic Lahaina, once Hawaii's Royal capital and later a famous whaling town.

Taking the Road to Hana and the Seven Pools is an unforgettable trip. The road itself is a twisting narrow ribbon that weaves in and out of sea cliffs, mountains, valleys and waterfalls, and through rainforests and jungles of ferns. It is a visually spectacular journey that should not be missed.

Maui is a true haven for golfers. Practice your swing on a great variety of courses, each with unique characteristics and spectacular vistas.

A few Golf Courses in Maui

Elleair Maui Golf Club

Located in the central city of Kihei, Elleair is a convenient, affordable alternative to the high-end resort courses. This course features narrow, rolling fairways and scenic ocean views woth no homes or hotels on the course. The greens are well-groomed, and the course is usually more enjoyable to play during the mornings when the wind is not blowing as hard, although many holes were designed with the wind in mind. Usually in good shape, the course offers a challenging and diverse layout that will provide a memorable experience on the links. Watch the whales jump out of the ocean offshore, while you play, from December to March. 18 holes, Par 72.

Ka'anapali Kai Course (South)

This club has two excellent eighteen hole courses. These courses were the site of the LPGA Kemper Open and also The Canada Cup. The club currently hosts the Senior PGA Tour Kaanapali Classic. The North Course features many great ocean views. Water is not a major consideration on the North Course, by sand bunkers are incorporated throughout the design. The South Course has water coming into play on three holes, including #11, a 200-yard, par 3, requiring a carry over a pond to the green. 18 holes, Par 71.

Kahili Golf Club

Formerly King Kamehameha Golf Club, Kahili reopened in the fall of '05 with 18 holes and brand new greens. Experience a day of golf at one of Maui's best golf courses. The 6469 yard, Par 72 was constructed in 1991 and designed by Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright. Carved out of the foothills of the scenic West Maui Mountains, the design of Kahili Golf Course takes advantage of the local terrain and Hawaiian Tradewinds to create a unique golf experience. The Par 3s on the front side lay up and downhill to small greens. On the backside, a small dry creek bed and a lake come into play; accuracy is a must. The Par 4s are designed to make the golfer work to get to the greens in regulation. There are many elevation changes combined with doglegs in both directions, making long drives an essential part of the game. The Par 5s are designed to give the long ball hitter a chance for a birdie. 18 holes, Par 72.

Makena Golf Club - South
Sharing the same spirit that embodies the Makena Resort, the South Course also provides the serenity and tranquility many golfers are looking for. It’s not to say that the course doesn’t provide quite a measure for golfers of every level. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the South Course is a 6,739-yard, par 72 course with natural rolling fairways, undulating greens, and capitivating ocean and mountain views. The course boasts one of Hawaii’s top driving holes, the par-5 number ten. According to members of the PGA Aloha Section, number ten was selected as one of the top par 5’s in Hawaii. The proximity to the ocean is exactly why this course is so special. Besides having two oceanfront holes, numbers fifteen and sixteen, the South Course also affords an excellent view of humpback whales that visit here each winter. And since they keep coming back year after year, they must be on to something good! 18 holes, Par 72.

Pukalani Country Club
Set in the rolling hillsides of "up-country" Maui, Pukalani Country Club overlooks the Pacific Ocean and the rest of the Valley Isle of Maui from 1,100 foot level of Mount Haleakala. This course offers an excellent opportunity to get away from the resort areas and see a very different part of the island and it's upcountry beauty. Pukalani's 18 unique holes were designed by golf course architect Bob Balddock, and they cover nearly 160 acres. Built in 1970, the course is 6,962 yards long from the championship tees, plays to a par 72, and features 19 greens in its 18 hole layout!

The Dunes At Maui Lani
The Royal and Ancient Links Courses of the British Isles have evolved over centuries. On Maui, it took visionary developer Bill Mills less than two years to bring that spirit to Hawaii. The Dunes at Maui Lani Golf Course, designed by Nelson & Haworth, is a master piece of golf architecture, a tribute to environmental sensitivity, and the beauty of Maui, The world's #1 island. The Dunes typifies all that is traditional about the game of golf. From its Royal Troon-like hole layout, and its devilish demand on accuracy, to its own Coat of Arms, The Dunes at Maui Lani is Hawaii's first, and only Irish linksland style golf course. 18 holes, Par 72.

Wailea Golf Club - Blue Course

The first course built in Wailea, the stately Blue is a gracious resort course that has been ranked among America's best resort courses by Golf Digest. In its lifetime, it has hosted such prestigious events as the LPGA Women's Kemper Open and Japan's Asahi-Kyosen pro/celebrity golf tournament. The Blue's fairways offer views of the ocean and Mt. Haleakala, and some of Wailea's stunning residential communities. It features several fountains and lakes, and an abundance of colorful hibiscus, wiliwili trees, bougainvillea and plumeria. The Blue was designed to appeal to a broad range of players. While it has challenged some of the finest professional players in the world, it also offers a measure of forgiveness in its wider fairways and large greens than it's sister courses. Sister courses Emerald Course, and Gold Course. 18 holes, Par 72.
